Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has announced plans to introduce hybrid classes, combining online and in-person learning, on a pilot basis in selected schools in the capital to address ongoing energy constraints.

“Crises in world history have often opened new doors of opportunity. We must not halt education in the current situation but move forward with innovative methods,” the minister said while speaking at a seminar held at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital today (8 April).

He further said the initiative would not be implemented nationwide at once. Instead, institutions with adequate capacity will be selected for the pilot programme. Under the proposed model, students will attend classes both online and offline on different days of the week.

Milon also noted that such a system could reduce student attendance in schools at any given time, easing traffic congestion and lowering fuel consumption while ensuring continuity in academic activities.

Highlighting the role of teachers, he stressed the need for enhanced training and monitoring to ensure effective online learning and maintain student engagement.

State Minister for the Ministry of Education Boby Hajjaj attended the seminar as a special guest.
