GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, textile and leather sector, biodiversity, as well as good governance, displacement, and migration.

GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Intern” from candidates who are attending a course of further study of which the completion of an internship is an integral component or have graduated no more than six months before commencing the internship.

A. Responsibilities
The incumbent will work under the general and overall supervision and guidance of the Principal Advisor, Liveable and Inclusive Cities for All (LICA). In order to fulfil his/her tasks, s/he will work in close coordination with the partners, consultants civil society etc.

  • S/he will be assisting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of internal and external events (team meetings, workshops, national dialogues etc.)
  • S/he will be supporting in the planning and development of communication products in English and Bangla, incl. drafting of reports, briefs, factsheets, presentations, etc., incl. proofreading and editing
  • S/he will be supporting knowledge management and the exchange of information within the team and towards external stakeholders via different tools (MS Teams and others)
  • S/he will be assisting in collecting relevant data/information on different projects and activity areas from relevant stakeholders such as counterparts, ministries, division/departments, NGOs, LGIs, development partners, and other relevant organizations on inclusive and climate-sensitive urban environmental management.
  • S/he will be assisting in preparation and finalization of different administrative documents related to the smooth operation of the project.
  • S/he will be assisting in different organizational and administrative tasks following the needs of the LICA project.

The Intern is responsible for the following tasks:

B-1 The core scope of tasks

  • Assist in organizational, administrative, and logistic support of the events and their documentation
  • Support the planning and development of communication products and reports
  • Support in desk based research on project related topics

B-2 Knowledge management

  • Support knowledge management within the team and externally

B-3 Other duties/additional tasks

  • Assist in different organizational and administrative tasks
  • Provide any other tasks assigned by the supervisor

C. Required qualifications, competencies and experience

Qualifications

  • University degree in communication, media studies, journalism, economics, political science, public administration, urban planning, regional studies, or another relevant discipline; at least equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. (Recently Graduated)

Professional experience

  • No professional experience is required.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Proficient in the field of communications and public relations, preferably in a political context.
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills. Photography/videography skills are an advantage.
  • Experience in organizing events such as conferences, workshops etc.
  • Highly motivated in knowledge management.
  • Basic knowledge of and strong interest in environmental and urban development topics.
  • Ability to show initiative, work independently, be reliable and be a team player in a multicultural environment
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven with an organized and structured working style, even under pressure
  • Efficient Workflow Design and Problem-Solving Skills.
  • Fluent in English and Bangla
  • Digital competency, e.g. in digital communication and collaboration, as well as very good user skills in the usual MS Office programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point). Experience with graphic design programmes is an advantage.

Learning Area
Extensive learning on issues as urban environmental management, urban development, sustainability, adaptation to climate change and some project and event management related tasks with on-the-job experience in the following areas:

  • Capacity development activities on urban environmental management issues
  • Event management skills for local and national level in collaboration wide range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge management within the context of International Cooperation.
