Media Relation Officer | Uttara University

Position: Media Relation Officer, Public Relations Office

Responsibilities & Context

  • Monitor all the media daily for news related to Uttara University and distribute summaries.
  • Draft press releases and manage media invitations for events.
  • Organize press briefings and assist visiting media personnel.
  • Maintain communication with journalists and media outlets.
  • Write articles, op-eds, and promotional content for media placement.
  • Ensure Uttara University’s participation in interviews, talk shows, and panel discussions.
  • Implement advertising schedules for the university’s public relations campaigns, before every semester.
  • Coordinate PR tasks with national authorities and stakeholders.
  • Handle crisis communications with prompt and well-prepared responses.
  • Collaborate with the digital team to promote consistent content across all platforms.
  • Track media coverage of peer universities and suggest strategies for improvement.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline, Masters degree in any discipline
  • Bachelor or Masters in any discipline (Journalism and Mass Communication is preferred).

Experience

  • At least 2 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): University, Public Relation Companies

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates having English language skills and foreign exposure will be preferable.

Experience requirement:

  • At least 2 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications.
  • Strong skills in writing, editing, and verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to network effectively.
  • Capable of working under pressure and managing crisis situations.
  • Proficient in media monitoring tools and PR software.
  • Well-versed in using social media platforms and integrating them into media campaigns.
  • Strong content development and analytical skills.
