SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social devolvement organisation provides care for the children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and deprived of caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages works in more than 130 countries and territories around the world. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently has programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet and Bagerhat.

Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

Position: Officer 

Location of Job: Sylhet

Nature of Job: Residential  

Area of Responsibilities:

  • Act as a care giver and ensure best possible care for the children and youth.
  • Adherence to the Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy & Code of Conduct and Sexual Misconduct Regulation (PSHEA) of the organization.
  • Guide SOS Mothers in fostering spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being among children, focusing on mental health and psychosocial support.
  • Handling the problems of the day-to-day life of children and mothers in consultation with the mother and Project Director.
  • Playing a key role in the activities of the Early Childhood Care and Development Centre (ECCD) in the premises.
  • To support the mother in escalating good family relations within the family and proper utilization of family budgets and resources.
  • Checking the family accounts, vouchers, memos, monthly requisition etc., and placing for approval as assigned.
  • Plan and organize activities such as prayers, games, art, celebrations, festivals, events, and outings.
  • Contribute to preparing different articles, reports, human touch stories, writing on good practices, etc.
  • Ensure proper documentation of office records while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide psychosocial counseling support to children and families, implementing MHPSS strategies as trained.
  • Coordinate implementation of the Child & Youth Safeguarding Policy and related child & safeguarding policy support documents in the location.
  • Ensure the establishment of a strong and reliable child safeguarding reporting and responding procedure in the Location.
  • Raising awareness of the SOS Child & Youth Safeguarding Policy principles.

Educational Requirements & Experience:

  • Graduation Degree in Psychology/Child Development and Family Relations/ Social Work/Social Welfare/Social Science, not less than 2nd Division/Class in any Public Examination.
  • Candidates having experience working in childcare organizations will get preferences.

Additional Requirements: 

  • Willing to work at and to stay in within the SOS premises.
  • Strong interest in the needs and development of the children.
  • Strong command in English report writing and presentation.
  • High interpersonal skills and coordination skills.
  • Willingness to make a long-term commitment.
  • Age up to 35 years

Salary & Benefits: BDT 22,000.00 along with single accommodation.

After probation period of 06 (Six) months, upon confirmation, incumbent will be entitled to receive a regular Salary Scale along with Festival Bonus, Contributory Provident Fund and Gratuity, Children’s Education Allowance, Group Insurance (Death & Accidental) as per existing policy of the organization.
