The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority has opened the admission process for the one-year Marine Apprentice (Deck and Engine) Course for the 2026 academic session. Interested candidates may apply until 30 October 2025. The application fee is BDT 320.

Eligibility requirements

1. Applicants must be Bangladeshi citizens and unmarried males.
2. Applicants must have passed at least SSC or an equivalent examination.
3. At the time of the selection test, candidates must present the original or online copies of all necessary certificates or mark sheets.
4. According to the SSC or equivalent certificate, the applicant’s age must be between 16.5 and 21 years as of 31 December 2025.
5. Seat distribution: 100 at DEPTC-Narayanganj, 30 at DEPTC-Barishal, and 90 at SPTC-Madaripur.

• Application deadline: From 24 August to 30 October 2025 (until midnight).
• Selection examination: 21 and 22 November 2025 at 9:00 am.

Admission process

1. Candidates will be selected based on preference, merit list, and authority’s decision.
2. Applicants must take a written test of 100 marks (SSC standard) in Bangla, English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
3. Those who pass the written test will undergo medical fitness, eye, swimming, and oral tests.
4. From the successful candidates, 135 will be finally selected for the Deck branch and 85 for the Engine branch, based on merit. Others will be placed on a waiting list.
