The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Summer 2025 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Global Student Leaders on Climate Change and the Environment. The five-week program will be hosted by the Northern Nevada International Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, under an award to the Meridian International Center. The tentative dates for the program are from 24 June to 26 July 2025. SUSI for Student Leaders are short-term academic programs aimed at providing undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of U.S. culture while enhancing leadership skills.
Program Overview
The program consists of a four-week academic residency and a one-week integrated study tour to a different region of the United States. Participants will engage in a mix of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures during the academic residency. Outside of the classroom, students will partake in educational travel, site visits, leadership activities, and volunteer opportunities within the local community.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Bangladeshi citizen with a valid Bangladeshi passport.
- Be aged between 18 and 25.
- Demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and openness to different perspectives.
- Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive academic program, community service, and educational travel.
- Be comfortable with campus life and cultural diversity.
- Show commitment to community service and extracurricular university activities.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and interest in climate change and environmental issues.
- Have strong English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing, listening).
- Have at least one semester left of undergraduate studies and commit to returning to university post-program.
- Have limited prior study or travel experience outside Bangladesh.
- Maintain a high level of academic achievement.
Application Requirements
- Applications must be typed or clearly handwritten.
- Each application must include a letter of recommendation from a department head or faculty dean.
- A passport-size photograph must be attached.
