The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, invites applications for the merit-based education scholarship for the meritorious children of registered journalists for the 2024-2025 academic session.

Application Deadline and Submission

The application period runs from One (1) January Two Thousand Twenty-Six to Fifteen (15) January Two Thousand Twenty-Six.

Completed applications must be submitted by the deadline to: The Managing Director, Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT), 116, Circuit House Road, Dhaka-1000.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The journalist must have a minimum of Five (5) years of experience in the journalism profession.
  2. The student’s age, based on their Birth Certificate or National Identity Card, must be less than Twenty-Five (25) years.
  3. If the journalist parent is deceased, the student’s legal guardian, who must also be engaged in the journalism profession, should apply.
  4. Children of deceased or financially solvent journalists do not need to apply (for the application form).
  5. Incomplete or defective applications will be considered automatically cancelled.
  6. The authority’s decision regarding the granting of the scholarship and the amount will be considered final.

Academic Eligibility (Academic Year 2024-2025)

Applicants must provide evidence of having achieved the following minimum marks/percentages in the relevant academic year:

  • Junior Secondary and Secondary Level: Minimum Seventy per cent (70%) marks.
  • Higher Secondary Level: Minimum Seventy per cent (70%) marks.
  • Degree or Equivalent Level: Minimum Sixty per cent (60%) marks.
  • For students who passed in Two Thousand Twenty-Three (2023), there must be a recommendation from the Head of the latest educational institution.

Required Documents (Attested Copies)

The application must be accompanied by the following attested documents:

  • Applicant’s National Identity Card.
  • The journalist’s Identity Card/Certificate proving their journalism profession/membership certificate proving Five (5) years of work experience as a journalist.
  • Student’s Birth Certificate/National Identity Card copy.
  • For children of deceased journalists, the journalist’s Death Certificate.
  • The applicant’s photograph (signed with green ink).
  • Two (2) copies of the student’s passport-sized colour photograph.
  • Photocopy of the student’s original mark sheet (attested/authorised by the Head of the Department/Division/Institution).
  • Certificate from the Head of the latest educational institution.
