Bangladesh wins first gold in men’s compound team event at Asia Cup
In a historic milestone for Bangladesh’s sporting journey, the national archery team secured the country’s first-ever gold medal in the men’s compound team event at the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 1 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The team, comprising Himu Bacchar, Aishwarzo Rahman and Newaz Ahmed Rakib, delivered a strong performance in the final against Vietnam, securing a 231–225 victory.
Bangladesh set the tone early by winning the opening set 57–55. Although Vietnam edged ahead in the fourth set, the Bangladeshi trio maintained consistency and composure throughout the match, finishing three points ahead to claim the gold.
While the team fell short of the semi-finals in individual and mixed events, their performance in the men’s compound team category stood out. They progressed through the competition with disciplined execution and focus to secure the historic win.
The victory marks a significant achievement for Bangladeshi archery on the Asian stage, reflecting years of effort and growing competitiveness in the sport.
As the national flag was raised in Bangkok, the moment underscored Bangladesh’s emergence as a strong contender in international archery.
