Kylian Mbappé, the French professional footballer, has won his first Golden Boot. This was his opening season for Spanish giants Real Madrid after his dramatic transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this season, reports media.

He scored 42 goals in 55 games in all competitions this season, with 31 in La Liga.

Though Viktor Gyökeres scored 29 goals in La Liga for Sporting CP, Mbappé was crowned with the honour as goals from teams in Europe’s top five leagues are worth two points. On the other hand, goals from Portuguese league clubs, which are outside that division, are worth 1.5 points.
He finished the season with 62 points, ahead of Gyökeres with 58.5 and Liverpool’s Salah (29 goals with 58 points). Mbappé was struggling for goals at the beginning of the season. His comeback will set a mark for his career.

He is the first French player to win the Golden Boot since Thierry Henry, who claimed the award back-to-back in 2004-05. Mbappé is the only player to win the World Cup Golden Boot, the European Golden Boot, and the Champions League Golden Boot.
