Powering the Youth 2.0: An Online Event for the Next Generation of Social Entrepreneurs

YSSE (Youth School for Social Entrepreneurs) recently held their signature virtual learning program, “Powering the Youth 2.0,” aimed at educating and empowering young people with the latest skills and knowledge they need to succeed as social entrepreneurs. With expert speakers covering a range of topics from negotiation to personal branding, participants were able to network, learn, and grow their businesses. YSSE recognized the insightful participation of four guest instructors and rewarded participants with certificates and discounts on e-learning courses. The event also highlighted YSSE’s commitment to empowering the youth and infusing them with a sense of responsibility and innovation.

Session 1 of the event focused on the “Route to Negotiation.” This session was conducted by Ghulam Sumdany Don, Chief Inspirational Officer, Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy, Managing Director, DS Education | Ikigai HR Services. | LoveGen Bangladesh. 

The speaker discussed the importance of effective negotiation skills in career, and provided practical tips and strategies for young entrepreneurs to hone their negotiation skills. The first session had over 180 participants. Ghulam Sumdany Don emphasized on understanding the other party’s perspective, and being able to adapt and compromise to reach a mutually beneficial agreement is very important as an individual.

Session 2 was focused on “Breakthrough Career Hacks”. This session was aimed to provide enthusiastic youth with practical tips and tricks to enhance their careers and achieve their professional goals. The guest speaker for this session was Ranjit Dey, Manager – HR & Admin, RANCON. 

The speaker shared his personal experiences and insights on how to make the most of networking opportunities, how to develop a strong personal brand, and how to effectively communicate with potential employers and clients. He said to the young participants “It is very important to set clear goals, develop a growth mind-set, and continuously learning and upskilling.

Session 3 was all about “Creative Marketing Strategy” and for this session YSSE brought honorable speaker Ishraq Dhaly, Director of Accounts & Servicing, Magnito Digital Limited. Ishraq Dhaly shared his insights on how to develop a marketing strategy that effectively communicates the unique value proposition of a product or service. He discussed various marketing channels, including social media, content marketing, and influencer marketing, and provided tips on how to measure the effectiveness of each channel. 

The last day of the event was about “Personal Branding Through Effective Communication”.

Saif Rahman, Head of Communication, Metlife Bangladesh was the speaker of this session. He talked about the power of personal branding in today’s corporate world and how young generation can effectively build personal brand through communication. Moreover, he reflected his ideas on the importance of authenticity, consistency, and clarity in personal branding, and provided practical tips on how to effectively communicate one’s brand message through various channels, such as social media, public speaking, and networking.

All of these sessions were designed especially for empowering the youth by shaping them through very essential 21st century employability skills. YSSE Marketing and PR recognized the insightful participation of four guest instructors with the “Token of Appreciation”. Participants were overwhelmed and gave wonderful feedback after all the sessions. One participant stated “These sessions were so insightful that I’ve learned a lot of unknown things which opens my eyes for exploring more for personal development .” 

YSSE recognised participants’ participation by providing them certificates and an amount of lucrative discounts on e-learning courses.

The President and Founder of YSSE Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf Hossain have reflected his thoughts on this event by saying, “We always try to empower the youth communities of our country to make them fit and skilled for their future employment”.

The Chief Organizer and Head of Public Relations at YSSE Imtius Ahmed Tuhin added his thoughts by stating, “Our guests are so much enriched on the topics that we have chosen for the event and hopefully the participants will learn many insights which will help them to be skilled manpower”.

Overall, the Powering the Youth 2.0 event provided valuable insights and practical tips for young people who are passionate about making a difference in the world through entrepreneurship. The event showcased the importance of developing key skills, such as negotiation, marketing, and personal branding, and provided young entrepreneurs with the tools they need to succeed in their businesses.
