SUST Career Club hosts ‘SUSTCC Research Bootcamp 2.0’

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) recently hosted SUSTCC Research Bootcamp 2.0, a research-focused initiative of the School of Research Development under the SUST Career Club, in collaboration with EN Global Education Ltd.
The bootcamp aimed to equip students with professional guidance on research methodologies, publication strategies, and securing research funding.
Distinguished speakers included Professor Dr A M Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of SUST; Professor Dr Md Alimul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University; Professor Dr Shah Md Atikul Haque, Head of the Department of Sociology, SUST; and Associate Professor Dr Md Monir Hossain from the Department of Food Engineering and Tea Technology, SUST.
Also in attendance were advisory board members Professor Dr Md Mozammel Haque (Department of Food Engineering and Tea Technology) and Professor Dr Md Mahbubul Hakim (Department of Economics).
A highlight of the programme was a live podcast session hosted by Sheikh Tanzim Zaman Supto, Vice-President of the School of Research Development, in which Professor Dr Sarwaruddin Chowdhury and Professor Dr Alimul Islam discussed research practices and youth engagement. Professor Chowdhury urged students not to fear research, noting, “Success comes when it is embraced wholeheartedly.” Professor Islam emphasised tackling real-world problems with persistence, sharing examples from innovations in Bangladesh’s livestock sector.
Professor Dr Monir Hossain focused the importance of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and pursuing doctoral studies for international recognition, while Professor Dr Atikul Haque advised selecting relevant topics, mastering both qualitative and quantitative methods, and learning the art of academic writing.
The event concluded with the presentation of crest mementos to guests. Organisers said such initiatives are intended to inspire and guide students towards strong, research-oriented careers.
