7 colleges to be divided into 4 academic schools

The government has announced plans to restructure academic and research activities at the seven government colleges affiliated with Dhaka University by dividing them into four academic schools.
At a press briefing held at the Secretariat today (4 August), Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mojibur Rahman, shared the details of the decision, reports BBC News Bangla.
He said, “The seven colleges will be reorganised into four schools — the School of Science, the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Business Studies, and the School of Law and Justice.”
According to Mojibur Rahman, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Eden Mohila College, and Dhaka College will fall under the School of Science. Government Bangla College will be placed under the School of Arts and Humanities, while Government Titumir College will be under the School of Business Studies. Kabi Nazrul College and Shaheed Suhrawardy College will be part of the School of Law and Justice.
Additionally, each college will have a proctor, and a total of 14 deputy proctors will be appointed across the seven institutions.
Mojibur Rahman also mentioned that all academic affairs under the central university system will be conducted through an Academic Council, Senate, and Syndicate.
Over the past few years, students of these seven colleges have repeatedly taken to the streets demanding reforms in academic activities and better governance.
