Application deadline extended for admissions to 19 cluster universities

The deadline for applications to 19 general, science, and technology universities under the cluster system for the 2024–25 academic year has been extended. Prospective students can now apply until Monday, 17 March, at 11:59pm. These universities will allow students to retake the admission test. Applications are open for three units: A, B, and C.

The decision to extend the deadline was made on Saturday, 15 March, during a meeting of the vice chancellors of the 19 cluster universities.

The application process for the admission test began at 12:00pm on 5 March and was originally scheduled to close at 11:59pm on 15 March. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations from the science, humanities, or commerce streams and meet the required qualifications can apply.

Eligible candidates include those who passed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent in 2020, 2021, or 2022, and their HSC or equivalent in 2023 or 2024. Students who completed Diploma-in-Commerce, HSC (Vocational) under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, A-levels, or other equivalent examinations (subject to equivalency verification) are also eligible to apply.

Unit-wise application criteria

Unit A (Science):
Applicants from the science stream must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 in both SSC and HSC (including the fourth subject) and a combined GPA of at least 7.50. This includes students from the general education board (science), madrasa board (science), and HSC vocational (science).

Unit B (Humanities):
Applicants from the humanities stream must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC (including the fourth subject) and a combined GPA of at least 6.00. This includes students from the general education board (humanities), madrasa board (general and Mujabbid), as well as music and home economics streams.

Unit C (Commerce):
Applicants from the commerce stream must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC (including the fourth subject) and a combined GPA of at least 6.50. This includes students from the general education board (commerce), Diploma in Business Studies, Business Management (HSC), and Diploma-in-Commerce streams.

For GCE (O and A levels), candidates must have passed at least five subjects in IGCSE (O level), including three subjects with a B grade, and at least three subjects in IAL (A level), including two subjects with a B grade. Applicants must upload their transcripts online and have their qualifications verified by the equivalency committee.
