Applications for undergraduate (Honours) admission for the 2024-25 academic year in nine agricultural cluster universities across the country will commence on 15 February and continue until 16 March. The application fee is set at Tk1,200 (excluding transaction fees). The admission test is scheduled for 12 April.
This year, a total of 3,863 seats are available across the nine universities, an increase of 145 seats compared to last year’s 3,718. Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) would be responsible for overseeing the admission process.
The information was confirmed by Mohammad Toufikul Islam, Acting Director of the Public Relations and Publications Office at BAU today (12 February). Earlier, the details were disclosed in a circular signed by Dr Md Helal Uddin, Registrar of BAU and Member Secretary of the Central Admission Committee for the Agricultural Cluster. The circular invited online applications for admission to the nine public universities under the cluster system.
Seat distribution
The seat allocation for each university is as follows:
• Bangladesh Agricultural University – 1,116 seats
• Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur – 435 seats
• Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University – 705 seats
• Patuakhali Science and Technology University – 423 seats
• Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University – 275 seats
• Sylhet Agricultural University – 580 seats
• Khulna Agricultural University – 150 seats
• Habiganj Agricultural University – 99 seats
• Kurigram Agricultural University – 80 seats
Eligibility criteria
To apply, candidates must have passed SSC/equivalent examinations in 2020/2021/2022 and HSC/equivalent examinations in 2023/2024 from the Science stream with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Candidates who passed SSC/equivalent improvement exams in 2023 are also eligible.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 in both SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent exams (excluding the fourth subject), with a total minimum GPA of 8.50.
For O-Level and A-Level students, a minimum GPA of 4.0 in at least five subjects at O-Level and two science subjects at A-Level is required, with a total minimum GPA of 8.50. Grades A and B will be calculated as 5 and 4 GPA, respectively.
Only children of freedom fighters can apply under the Freedom Fighter quota, and indigenous/non-tribal candidates from hilly regions can apply under the respective quota. Applicants under these quotas must upload the relevant certificates online.
Exam format and mark distribution
The 100-mark admission test will be conducted in MCQ format, following the HSC syllabus of 2024. The distribution is as follows:
• English – 10 marks
• Zoology – 15 marks
• Botany – 15 marks
• Physics – 20 marks
• Chemistry – 20 marks
• Mathematics – 20 marks
One mark will be awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The admission test will be held on 12 April from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm across nine centres nationwide:

Result preparation
Results will be prepared based on a total of 150 marks. This includes 100 marks from the admission test, 25 marks from SSC/equivalent results (excluding the fourth subject), and 25 marks from HSC/equivalent results (excluding the fourth subject). Merit and waiting lists will be published accordingly.
