Bangladesh has won three bronze medals at the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO), held in Manila, Philippines.

The medalists are Arij Anas from South Point School and College, Farabid Bin Faisal from Mastermind English Medium School, and Ha-Meem Rahman from Notre Dame College.

The team also included Marzan Afroz from Rajuk Uttara Model College. They were led by Professor Rakhahari Sarker, president of the Bangladesh Biology Olympiad Central Committee, and Professor Mrityunjoy Kundu, a member of the executive board.

The weeklong competition was held from 20 to 27 July in Manila, though results were announced a day early.

To form the national team, the Bangladesh Biology Olympiad Committee organised 10 regional festivals between May 16 and 24, with over 8,500 students participating. A total of 1,190 students then took part in the national festival on 31 May.

Top performers were invited to a residential bio camp, where the final four were selected. The selection was held on 19 June at Daffodil International University.

The Bangladesh Biology Olympiad Committee (BdBO) organised the initiative, with training support from the National Institute of Biotechnology and Daffodil International University.
