The original Heat, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, is widely regarded as one of the greatest crime thrillers ever made. The film chronicled the intense battle between master thief Neil McCauley and relentless LAPD detective Lt. Vincent Hanna, becoming a defining entry in the heist genre and grossing more than $187 million worldwide.
Based on Mann’s 2022 novel, Heat 2 will function as both a prequel and sequel to the original story. The film is expected to explore Hanna’s early days as a detective while also continuing the narrative threads of the surviving criminals.
