CU begins subject choice process for first-year undergraduate admissions

The University of Chittagong (CU) has opened the subject choice submission process for successful candidates in the general and quota categories under various units and sub-units for the academic session 2024–25.

According to an official notice, students can submit their subject preferences online from today (21 April) to the following Monday (28 April).

Applicants in the general category who have passed under the Faculty of Science’s ‘A’ unit and hold merit positions between 1 and 8,000 are eligible to apply. For the Faculty of Arts and Humanities ‘B’ unit, students within the 1 to 7,000 merit positions can apply, while all qualified candidates under the ‘B-2’ sub-unit are eligible.

In the ‘C’ unit, under the Faculty of Business Studies, those with merit positions 1 to 2,001 in the business group, 1 to 71 in the humanities group, and 1 to 1,000 in the science group can submit preferences. For the ‘D’ unit, merit position holders from 1 to 8,000 are also eligible.

Applications for the ‘B-1’ and ‘D-1’ sub-units will begin on Thursday and continue until Monday. Students who have passed both the written and practical tests can apply in these categories.

For quota seats, all students who have passed under various quotas in the ‘A’ unit, those under the physically challenged quota (PCQ) in the ‘B’, ‘D’ units and the ‘B-2’ sub-unit, and those who cleared the written and practical tests in the ‘B-1’ and ‘D-1’ sub-units can apply between Thursday and Monday.

In the Business Studies faculty, the following merit bracket students are eligible to apply for quota seats:

  • Ethnic minority quota: 1 to 13
  • Non-tribal quota: 1 to 8
  • Ward quota: 1 to 5
  • Freedom fighter quota: 1 to 13
  • Physically challenged: all qualified applicants

For science group students, the applicable merit brackets under quotas are:

  • Ethnic minority: 1 to 15
  • Non-tribal: 1 to 12
  • Ward: 1 to 14
  • Freedom fighter: 1 to 18

Additionally, one applicant from BKSP and all qualified physically challenged applicants may apply. There are no eligible humanities group students for quota seats in the ‘C’ unit.
