Speaking to bdnews24.com on Saturday (31 January) afternoon, Sarba Mitra said fellow students had urged him to remain in office, arguing that his resignation would be “anti-student” and a betrayal of voters’ trust.

“They asked me not to give in to opposition pressure and to continue my work. So I have decided to withdraw my resignation,” he said.

He also claimed that the DUCSU constitution does not support resignation, though he could not cite a specific provision. Clause 12(b) of the constitution, however, allows for vacancies caused by resignation to be filled through elections.
Sarba Mitra had announced his resignation earlier this week following criticism over his conduct, including a viral video showing him forcing children to do sit-ups on campus. The university later issued him a show-cause notice.
