Government approves Grameen University as the 116th private university in Bangladesh

The government has approved “Grameen University,” a new private institution in Dhaka. The Ministry of Education granted temporary approval, subject to 22 conditions, to Board of Trustees Chairman Ashraful Hasan. This raises the number of approved private universities to 116.

The seven-year temporary approval requires compliance with the Private University Act, 2010. Conditions include a minimum 25,000 sq ft building, three faculties with six departments, and a 15 million taka reserve fund. These stipulations aim to ensure the university’s operational viability and adherence to educational standards.
