Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today (8 April) informed the parliament that the government has initiated a move to identify teachers with fake certificates as part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the country’s education system.
The minister shared this information during a written question-answer session on the 11th sitting of the first session of the parliament presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.
Responding to a query from Noakhali-5 lawmaker Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, the minister stated that several measures are being taken to strengthen governance in the education sector.
These include conducting the recruitment process for private educational institutions through the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), formulating policies regarding financial transparency, and introducing a ranking system for educational institutions.
Highlighting technology-driven plans to improve the quality of education, Minister Milon said the government has undertaken initiatives to set up multimedia classrooms in all government secondary schools, provide “One Teacher One Tab,” ensure free Wi-Fi, and offer integrated technological support including teacher training.
Furthermore, the process of sending lists of vacant positions to the Public Service Commission (PSC) is ongoing to mitigate teacher shortages.
A “digital monitoring system” has also been launched to ensure good governance, which focuses on strengthening teacher attendance, classroom activities, and academic supervision.
The government also plans to conduct an “Impact Evaluation” across all educational institutions in the next fiscal, Milon added.
Regarding future projects, the education minister noted that infrastructure development, teacher training, and monitoring systems will be introduced through the “Accelerating Secondary Education” project.
He added that the government is working to incorporate technical education at the secondary level and ensure inclusive education for children with special needs.
