The form fill-up process for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination 2025 commenced on Sunday (2 March). The Dhaka Education Board has issued specific guidelines for private candidates intending to sit for the exams.
According to the guidelines, students who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent examination in 2020 or earlier are eligible to register as private candidates for the HSC 2025 examination. Additionally, students from the Bangladesh Open University who cleared their SSC in 2019 or earlier can also apply.
Key guidelines for private candidates
- Private candidates can sit for the HSC 2025 examination under the updated curriculum without renewing their registration. All examination rules set by the education board will apply to them.
- Candidates must take a selection test at one of the designated colleges, except for teachers, law enforcement officers, defence personnel, and individuals with physical or visual disabilities.
- Private candidates must sit for their HSC exams at the centre assigned to the college where they register—centre changes will not be permitted.
- They can only choose subjects from the Humanities, Business Studies, and Islamic Studies streams. Subjects with practical components (except for ICT) are not available to private candidates, and they cannot select a fourth subject.
- Employees of the education board cannot take the HSC exam under their own board. However, they may sit for the exam under a different board with approval from their employer.
- Applications must be submitted to the principal of the designated college between 6 January and 20 January 2025, along with the necessary fees and documents.
- The registration fee is set at Tk100, and online registration (cSIF) must be completed between 12 January and 30 January 2025. The completed form, along with attested copies of SSC mark sheets, must be submitted to the board’s exam controller by 2 February 2025.
- Private candidates must collect their registration cards from the HSC examination section of the board on 16 February 2025.
- Any necessary corrections in the registration details must be completed by 20 February 2025 before proceeding with the form fill-up process.
- Participation in the selection test is mandatory. Candidates must sit for exams in compulsory subjects such as Bangla, English, and ICT, along with three elective subjects. Each subject will carry 100 marks with a duration of three hours.
- The registration process must be completed through the designated college, and it will remain valid for one year only.
- Candidates must adhere to the subject clusters mentioned in the curriculum; selecting subjects outside these clusters will lead to disqualification.
- Examination fees must be submitted as per the official HSC 2025 notification through the respective colleges.
