National University to retain 4-year honours duration

Professor ASM Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, confirmed that honours courses will continue to be 4 years long. In a Facebook post on 16 February, he clarified that no decision has been made to reduce the duration, dismissing earlier reports as misquotations.

He added that while the duration remains the same, some technical courses will undergo syllabus reforms to enhance employability.

Earlier, M Aminul Islam, Special Assistant to the Education Advisor, mentioned plans to shorten honours courses to three years, adding a diploma-focused fourth year.
