The National Curriculum and Textbook Board has published the subject-specific question paper structure and mark distribution for the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025. This will be effective from the 2025 Junior Scholarship Examination. The detailed question types, evaluation guidelines, and mark distribution for the five subjects of the scholarship exam are provided below.

The subject-specific question paper structure and mark distribution have been prepared for the following five subjects selected for the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025:

Subjects:

  1. Bengali—Full marks: 100, Exam duration: 3 hours.
  2. English—Full marks: 100, Exam duration: 3 hours.
  3. Mathematics—Full marks: 100, Exam duration: 3 hours.
  4. Science and Bangladesh & Global Studies—Full marks: (50 + 50) = 100, Exam duration: (1.30 + 1.30) 3 hours.

Question Types, Evaluation Guidelines, and Mark Distribution

1. Subject: Bengali

Full Marks: 100, Time: 3 hours.

Question types and mark distribution:

20 marks are allocated for multiple-choice questions, 40 marks for creative questions, 10 marks for descriptive questions, and 30 marks for the composition section. All questions must be answered.

  • Multiple-Choice Questions: 1 x 20 = 20 marks. There will be a total of 20 questions: 5 from prose, 5 from poetry, and 10 from the grammar section.
  • Creative Questions: 10 x 4 = 40 marks. There will be a total of 4 creative questions: 2 from prose and 2 from poetry.
  • Descriptive Questions: 1 x 20 = 20 marks. There will be 1 descriptive question from the ‘Anandapath’ section. The question will have 2 parts: part ‘a’ will be worth 3 marks and part ‘b’ will be worth 7 marks.
  • Composition Section:
    • Letter Writing: 1 x 5 = 5 marks
    • Summary/Essence: 1 x 5 = 5 marks
    • Elaboration of an Idea: 1 x 5 = 5 marks
    • Essay Writing (1 out of 2): 1 x 15 = 15 marks

2. Subject: English

Full Marks: 100, Time: 3 hours.

Question types and mark distribution:

  • Part-A: Reading (40 marks)
    • Seen Passage-1:
      • Test Items:
        1. MCQ: 0.5 x 10 = 5 Marks
        2. Answering questions: 2 x 4 = 8 Marks
    • Seen Passage-2:
      • Test Items: 3. Gap-filling: 0.5 x 5 = 2.5 Marks 4. Vocabulary (Synonyms & Antonyms): 0.5 x 5 = 2.5 Marks
    • Unseen Passage:
      • Test Items: 5. Information Transfer: 1 x 5 = 5 Marks or True/False 6. Writing Summary: 5 Marks 7. Matching: 1 x 4 = 4 Marks
    • Poems:
      • Test Items: 8. Answering questions from poems in English for Today (any 4 out of 7): 2 x 4 = 8 Marks
  • Part-B: Grammar (30 marks)
    • Test Items: 9. Gap-filling activities with clues/without clues (parts of speech, use of articles, prepositions, etc.): 0.5 x 10 = 5 Marks 10. Substitution table: 1 x 5 = 5 Marks 11. Right form of Verbs: 0.5 x 10 = 5 Marks 12. Changing Sentences (Tense, Affirmative, Negative, Assertive, Interrogative, Optative, Imperative, Exclamatory): 1 x 10 = 10 Marks 13. Punctuation and Capitalisation: 0.5 x 10 = 5 Marks
  • Part-C: Writing (30 marks)
    • Test Items: 14. Letter/E-mail (Formal/Informal): 8 Marks 15. Completing stories/Writing dialogues: 10 Marks 16. Writing short composition in 200 words: 12 Marks

3. Subject: Mathematics

Full Marks: 100, Time: 3 hours.

Question types and mark distribution:

50 marks are allocated for creative questions, 20 marks for short-answer questions, and 30 marks for multiple-choice questions. All questions must be answered.

  • Multiple-Choice Questions: 1 x 30 = 30 marks. There will be a total of 30 multiple-choice questions: 8-10 from arithmetic, 8-10 from algebra, 6-8 from geometry, and 3-4 from data and statistics.
  • Short-Answer Questions: 2 x 10 = 20 marks. There will be 10 short-answer questions.
  • Creative Questions: 10 x 5 = 50 marks. There will be a total of 5 creative questions, with at least one from each of the following sections: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data and statistics.

Note: Each chapter must have at least one question (creative question/short-answer question/multiple-choice question).

4. Subject: Science

Full Marks: 50, Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Question types and mark distribution:

10 marks are allocated for multiple-choice questions, 10 marks for short-answer questions, and 30 marks for creative questions. All questions must be answered.

  • Multiple-Choice Questions: 1 x 10 = 10 marks. There will be 10 multiple-choice questions.
  • Short-Answer Questions: 2 x 5 = 10 marks. There will be 5 short-answer questions.
  • Creative Questions: 10 x 5 = 30 marks. There will be 3 creative questions.

Note: Each chapter must have at least one question (creative question/short-answer question/multiple-choice question).


5. Subject: Bangladesh and Global Studies

Full Marks: 50, Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Question types and mark distribution:

10 marks are allocated for multiple-choice questions, 10 marks for short-answer questions, and 30 marks for creative questions. All questions must be answered.

  • Multiple-Choice Questions: 1 x 10 = 10 marks. There will be 10 multiple-choice questions.
  • Short-Answer Questions: 2 x 5 = 10 marks. There will be 5 short-answer questions.
  • Creative Questions: 10 x 5 = 30 marks. There will be 3 creative questions.
