Registration for the 16th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad (BPhO) 2026 officially opened yesterday (16 August), inviting students from across the country to test their knowledge and skills in physics. Interested participants can register online at www.bdpho.org.

The Olympiad will be held in four categories based on grade levels:

  • Category A: Class 5–6
  • Category B: Class 7–8
  • Category C: Class 9–10 (SSC candidates or equivalent)
  • Category D: Class 11–12 (HSC candidates or equivalent)

According to the organisers, students must register using the grade they were enrolled in six months prior to the registration date. Registration via Teletalk numbers will not be accepted. A non-refundable registration fee of Tk360 must be paid online during the process, which covers participation in the regional round of the Olympiad.

The registration process is straightforward. Participants need to select the Registration option from the website menu, fill in the required details accurately, and click Complete Registration. Once confirmed, they will be redirected to the payment form to finalise the process. For multiple registrations from the same mobile number, a minimum 10-minute gap is required between transactions.

After successful registration, participants will receive their registration number and password via SMS on their registered mobile number. These credentials are essential for accessing profiles and making any changes. Students experiencing issues during registration or not receiving the SMS are advised to contact the organisers via [email protected].

The regional round of the Olympiad will take place at designated centres across the country. Winners from the regional stage will advance to the national round, and top performers from the national level will be invited to a training camp.

Past participants of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) are eligible to sit directly for the national round, while former International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) participants may also join the national training camp, provided they meet age and eligibility requirements.

This year, Bangladesh aims to select five students to represent the country at the 56th International Physics Olympiad in Colombia. Additionally, eight students may participate in the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad in South Korea, and five students in the 10th European Physics Olympiad in Sweden.

The Olympiad Committee emphasised that all decisions regarding team selection are final, and any attempts at lobbying or undue influence will result in disqualification.
