The National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC) 2025 has officially opened for registration for students at secondary and higher secondary levels across Bangladesh.

Organised by the ICT Division, this annual event—launched in 2015—aims to popularise computer programming among students from schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical education boards, reports Prothom Alo.

This year’s edition comes with an expanded lineup, including not just programming and ICT quizzes, but also chess tournaments and seminars on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Students will be able to participate in three categories: Junior (Grades 6–8), Secondary (Grades 9–10), and Higher Secondary (Grades 11–12). Eligibility also extends to 2025 examinees from HSC, Alim, and Polytechnic fourth-semester levels, as well as O- and A-level candidates. The quiz contest, however, is open only to Junior and Secondary participants.

The nationwide competition will be held in 16 regional clusters, covering all 64 districts. Aside from programming and quizzes, regional and national rounds will host events on emerging tech topics, offering a platform for students to showcase both their logical prowess and awareness of future tech.

The regional rounds are set to take place at campuses of public universities including University of Barisal, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Institute of Information Technology at Dhaka University, and universities in Comilla, Rajshahi, Noakhali, Patuakhali, Pabna, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jessore, Khulna, Gopalganj, Rangpur, and Chattogram.

Winners from the regional contests will compete in the final national round to be held in Dhaka. There, programming contestants will be tasked with solving six to ten coding problems, while quiz participants will answer 50 questions on paper.

The NHSPC 2025 is jointly organised by the Bangladesh Computer Council and the ICT Division, with support from the Bangladesh Chess Federation, the Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) Project, and the National Cyber Security Agency.
