A college student was killed and his friend was injured when a truck hit their motorcycle in the Tejgaon Industrial Area of Dhaka last night (27 March).

The deceased was identified as Shahriar Imon, 18, an 11th-grade student at Siddheshwari College. His friend sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

The accident occurred around 1:45 am on the road in front of Southern Group Company, adjacent to BG Press in the Tejgaon Industrial Area.

Confirming the incident, Mahmudur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, said the victim’s family filed a case under the Road Transport Act.

“The truck fled the scene after the accident and has not yet been identified,” he added.

According to police, passersby rescued the two and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared Imon dead.

After the autopsy, his body was handed over to his family.
