S M A Nahian from Dhaka College and Afsana Akter from Holy Cross College have earned places at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), bringing pride to Bangladesh.
Nahian, a standout in mathematics and programming, won bronze medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in 2023 and 2024, secured four consecutive Champion of Champions titles at the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad (BdMO), and achieved a Master rank on CodeForces. He also excelled in computing, winning gold at the USA Computing Olympiad (USACO) in 2023.
Afsana Akter, an accomplished mathematician, won the National Mathematical Olympiad in 2021 and consistently performed in the BdMO, earning selections for the National Olympiad in 2020 and 2022.
Their achievements highlight Bangladesh’s growing presence in global academia, securing spots at one of the world’s top universities.
