The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned students and guardians about a fraudulent website operating under the name of Narayanganj University of Science and Technology, falsely advertising admission opportunities.
In a press release issued yesterday (18 May), the UGC clarified that although the university was approved in 2023, no administrative or academic activities—including the appointment of a vice-chancellor—have commenced. Despite this, a group of fraudsters has launched a fake website containing misleading information to conduct unauthorised admission activities, reports media.
Upon review, the UGC found that the website uses the photograph of a vice-chancellor from a Kolkata-based university and falsely claims campus infrastructure by displaying images from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University in Gazipur.
