The World Youth Skills Day is being celebrated today (15 July) aiming at promoting the importance of skill development among young people.

The theme of this year’s World Youth Skills Day is, “Youth Empowerment Through Digital Skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI)”.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus issued a message on the eve of the Day. 

The World Youth Skills Day is being observed every year on 15 July to recognise the strategic importance of equipping young people with the skills needed for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.

The present young society is a generation, who are struggling for their own carrier and also being influenced with social media. 

The day also is being observed for raising awareness that not only to depend on the conventional study but to prepare own through the practical skills for the tomorrow.

The Interim government which has been formed through the July mass uprising has taken various initiatives to transform the youth into human resources and preparing scope of employment for a discrimination free new Bangladesh.

Based on the demand of the labour market at home and abroad, the government is imparting training to the youths and preparing scope of employment for them.

Besides, National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) is working to forging skills development eco-system along with public-private participants. 

The significance of the day is to make the youth adapt with changing working place and entrepreneur through developing of skills of the youth for building a modern developed Bangladesh.

The general assembly of the United Nations has announced 15 July as the “World Youth Skills Day” in 2014. The observation of the day has begun for providing employment through technical expertise, vocational education and training among the youth community.
