Imagine falling in love with a character from a short film or watching scenes so vivid and emotionally real that you feel part of the story. Now, imagine learning that none of it is real. That every character, voice, and emotion was entirely created by artificial intelligence.

Bangladesh has taken a bold step in AI filmmaking releasing its first AI-generated Bengali short film, Time Travel. Produced by science-based ed-tech platform BigyanPriyo, this five-and-a-half-minute sci-fi film marks a milestone in AI-driven storytelling locally.

The film features 75 scenes crafted using advanced tools like Google DeepMind’s VEO 3, FLOW, and Runway AI. From script to voiceover, sound, and colour grading, every element was generated by AI, guided by carefully designed prompts. The result is a visually compelling narrative with a polished finish.

Inspired by Fredric Brown’s classic Time Machine story, the film unfolds in a post-nuclear war world where only one young man survives, saved by his father, a professor who lost his job after protesting nuclear arms. As the survivor waits, a mysterious knock at the door changes everything.

“Viewers were amazed that AI made this film,” said Shawon Mahmud, founder of BigyanPriyo. “Google DeepMind’s VEO 3 came out just days before we started, and its quality amazed us. We believe AI is not just about imitation but pushing creative boundaries.”

BigyanPriyo was among the first to release Bangla AI-generated content using VEO 3. Since sharing clips on 4 June 2025, the film has gone viral, reaching over a million viewers across Bangladesh, showing AI’s power to redefine storytelling in cinema.
