Star Cineplex has pulled off a cinematic feat by bringing back two of Christopher Nolan’s iconic films on the big screen for the very first time in Bangladesh, with screenings starting today (3 May).
Christopher Nolan’s recent triumph at the 96th Oscars sent waves of delight through his fan base, and what better way to celebrate than with a trip down memory lane? “The Dark Knight,” an all-time classic from 2008, still holds its ground with a stellar 9/10 on IMDb and a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. And let’s not forget the unforgettable performances by Heath Ledger as the Joker and Christian Bale as the brooding Batman—truly a match made in cinematic heaven!
Then there’s “Interstellar,” the mind-boggling masterpiece from 2014 that had audiences pondering the mysteries of space and time long after the credits rolled. But fear not, you don’t need a PhD in astrophysics to wrap your head around it. Just a dash of curiosity and an appetite for adventure will suffice.
The fans are buzzing with excitement over this unexpected treat from Star Cineplex. Tasnim Doha, a recent graduate from BUET, can hardly contain his enthusiasm, “As a Nolan fan, I would love to indulge in this grand opportunity of resonating with the upcoming frenzy”.
Meanwhile, Nihal, a student at Dhaka University, excitedly said, “I’ve loved Christopher Nolan’s work for ages, so I’m thrilled that Star Cineplex is bringing two of his biggest hits in cinemas. Seeing Interstellar in theaters will be a breathtaking experience, even if you’re not a huge Nolan fan. I think it’s a very cool move by Star Cineplex. I definitely want to make time to catch at least one of the movies there.”
But of course, not everyone is jumping for joy at the news. Partha, a self-proclaimed cinephile, remains unconvinced and says, “Re-releasing old movies? Meh, it’s just not my cup of tea.”
But for many, myself included, the chance to relive the magic of Interstellar and The Dark Knight on the big screen is an opportunity too good to pass on.
So get your hands on tickets and grab your popcorn. You wouldn’t want to miss it!
