The Devil’s imprisonment doesn’t deter some self motivated lying criminals from shifting their responsibility to the Chief Demon whenever they commit crimes.

Once such incident occurred last night when a guy named Mahbuhur Rahman, was caught red handed beside Salimullah Muslim Hall trying to rape a young street child. When caught, as mentioned in Sarba Mitra Chakma’s facebook post, he was quick to blame the devil himself and said it was He, the Devil, who influenced him to commit the crime.

Recently in Bangladesh, such occurrences are observed more as individuals committing crimes are swiftly blaming their actions on the devil.

This has led to the devil being concerned about his own security and goodwill, for the Chief Demon does not need any more difficulties on top of what it already has clearing its name.

Before the start of Ramadan, Bangladesh was going through a rough patch; the devil’s influence could be seen everywhere, from petty muggings to exuberant mob violence and robberies. His influence was so rampant that the chief himself forgot that the holy month was approaching.

One evening while roaming around the dark streets, the devil suddenly found himself trapped and taken to the heavens. Although this was an annual occurrence, he was taken aback. Sources close to him quote him saying, “I was enjoying too much.” Adding that, “I guess it’s good to take some rest.”

In his yearly imprisonment, day by day he is seeing his influence truly penetrating the social fabric of Bangladesh; His encouragement motivates the lawless derelicts and the inadequate response from the law enforcement also.

Criminal activities are increasing day by day, as if the shackles had come off. Seeing this from the outside, even the devil was quite flabbergasted, and some even heard him touting, “Oh wow! I did my job better than expected.”

However, the nature of the crimes is getting worse as the days are progressing, which is making even the devil shiver in disgust.

The acts of harassment against women, the mob attacks popping up here and there, were a spectacle for the well-experienced Devil who had seen it all from the dawn of time.

While expressing his thoughts from the clouds above, he said, “Humanity has always been a quick learner; this time, I think they outdid themselves. Even I would have thought differently and wouldn’t have engaged in some of the stuff they’re doing.”

The crime that broke the camel’s back was the recent gruesome rapes of children. Normally,  Bangladesh always has a problem with playing the blame game and often blaming the victim herself.

Also, the attempt of sympathy gathering for the criminal is also a well-cherished tradition, as commenting on the victim’s attire and character is always a casual topic of conversation whenever these types of crime occur. But when the victim is a child, the same game doesn’t work. 

The nation is now ablaze, and even the devil would have been afraid to operate in such a highly pressurised situation; that is why he was gobsmacked when he got to know that an adult rapist blamed his influence for such a despicable crime.

In getting a comment from the devil himself, the devil expressed his views in quite a graphic manner.  

“Who the hell does he think he is!” The devil shouted to the TBS graduates reporter.  

“I’ve been caged for 15 days now, and this human with all his free will is blaming me! I’m not even there; how can you blame me for something when I’m not even present?

The devil went on a tirade; he too was feeling how victims of harassment and sexual violence often feel, being blamed for something for which they have nothing to do with.

“These ungrateful, backstabbing, delusional Bengalis, how can they lie so easily through their teeth? Don’t they have any shame?”

The devil vehemently denied all allegations of influence and has stated the obvious: that he always remains inactive in the holy month of Ramadan. 

Fearing more false allegations and inappropriate comments, the devil ensured TBS Graduates that he will arrange a press briefing as soon as he is released, and he will do whatever it takes to clear his name.

The devil is said to appear in various talk shows and live events for this cause, and much like what some political parties proclaimed in the past, he warned those who blame him, saying, “I’ll be back with vengeance after Eid.”
