Discone, the new Savoy ice cream cone has taken social media by storm with its unique blend of flavours and premium quality ingredients.

But is it really worth the hype?

Commercially sold ice creams in Bangladesh can often feel cheaply made and lack the heartiness of quality ingredients, but Savoy is slowly changing the game. With their innovations and constantly introducing new flavours as well as type of ice creams, they are really giving all the other brands a tough competition.

I still remember the time when Igloo first brought out their Cornelli Belgian Chocolate cone. It was a chocolate lover’s dream with tiny crispy chocolate balls over a thin chocolate layer above the chocolate ice cream cone and the solid chocolate treasure at the end. Tiffin allowances were often spent on buying this delicacy.

I bought a whole box of the Savoy Discone with the same childish excitement and happy to say Savoy did not disappoint. The ice cream cone is a mouthwatering blend of chocolate and coffee, complete with the perfect crisp of the chocolate cone.

However, is it worth the hype? For me yes. I do not usually like the overly sweet taste of straight up chocolate ice cream so the hint of coffee with a quality cone is a heavenly combination. But if you have a sweeter tooth and prefer the straight up vanilla or chocolate cones available in the market you might not appreciate the sophistication of flavours.

The uniqueness of the ice cream cone lies in the chocolate disk on top of the ice cream with a hint of honeycomb and the molten chocolate inside.

However, it’s not these elements that drew me to this ice cream but the actual blend of the flavours. You can’t go wrong with coffee and chocolate. The crispy chocolate cone is like the cherry on top that completes the ice cream.

I get what the hype is about but sadly there is still room for improvement. The chocolate disc, though tasty, is not at all conducive to eating on the go. The chocolate layer is so thick it is bound to slide over the actual ice cream.

And the chocolate fudge on the inside, though tasty is a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall I would give this ice cream a solid 8.5 out of 10. I would suggest ice cream lovers to try this at least once, this might end up becoming your new favourite.
