The application process for the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination will commence on 2 March. The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued a set of rules for private candidates wishing to appear for the 2025 HSC examination.
Students who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent examination in 2020 or earlier may register as private candidates. Additionally, students who passed the SSC exam from the Bangladesh Open University in 2019 or earlier are also eligible to apply as private candidates for the 2025 HSC examination.
Rules for registration
- Private candidates, without renewing their registration, may sit the 2025 HSC examination based on the syllabus of 2025. The rules for conducting the examination will also apply to private candidates.
- Private candidates must sit for the test examinations at a designated college approved by the Board. Exceptions are granted to teachers, members of the police and defence forces, and physically or visually impaired candidates.
- Candidates must sit for the HSC examination at the centre allocated for the college where they registered. Changing the examination centre is not permitted under any circumstances.
- Private candidates can only appear in the Humanities, Business Studies, or Islamic Studies groups. They are not permitted to take any subjects involving practical tests, except Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Additionally, private candidates cannot select a fourth subject.
- Employees of the Education Board may not take the examination from their respective boards. However, with permission from their employer, they may sit the examination under any other board in Bangladesh.
- Candidates must submit their application on plain paper, along with the required fees and documents, to the principal of their designated college between 6 January and 20 January 2025.
- A registration fee of Tk100 must be paid online between 12 January and 30 January 2025. Completed online forms (cSIF) must be submitted to the relevant section of the Education Board by 2 February 2025, along with the original SSC mark sheets verified by the controller of examinations.
- The Board will issue registration cards for private candidates on 16 February 2025.
- Private candidates must adhere to the syllabus clusters outlined in the curriculum. Deviating from these clusters will result in cancellation of the examination.
- Private candidates must comply with the Board’s rules and regulations. The Board reserves the right to cancel applications without stating reasons.
