SUST Chhatra Dal to Hold Worker’s Meeting Outside Campus Amid Political Ban

Due to the ban on political activities under party banners, the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit of Chhatra Dal has announced plans to hold a worker’s meeting outside the campus.

The event is scheduled for Saturday noon near the university’s main gate, where leaders and activists will distribute membership forms to recruit new members. Central leaders of the student organisation are also expected to attend.

According to sources, the SUST Chhatra Dal committee was formed on 13 October 2016, but many members later became inactive. The organisation has not been able to hold a worker’s meeting for the past 15 years. However, aspirants for leadership positions are actively participating in this initiative.

SUST Chhatra Dal’s Office Secretary, Monir Hossain, stated that since political activities under party banners are prohibited on campus, they had to arrange the meeting elsewhere.

Earlier, on 6 November, the university authorities imposed restrictions on all political activities under party banners. SUST Proctor Md Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed that no political organisation is permitted to hold programmes within the campus.
