Kuet suspends 37 students over February clashes

Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has temporarily suspended 37 students for their alleged roles in the clashes on 18–19 February. The decision followed an emergency syndicate meeting on Monday night, where the probe report was submitted.

Residential halls are set to reopen on 2 May, with classes resuming on 4 May. However, many students remain dissatisfied, continuing their sit-in protest in front of the administrative building. They demand immediate reopening of the halls and say the delay has disrupted their studies and income sources, including tuition jobs.

The violence began over calls to ban student politics, escalating into a clash involving students, locals, and activists from a student political group. Over 100 were injured. KUET authorities shut the campus indefinitely on 25 February in response.
