During Bangladesh’s second T20 match against the UAE in Sharjah yesterday (20 May), a young man in the stands held up a placard that read in English: “I will never get married until Bangladesh wins a World Cup.”
Dressed in a Bangladesh jersey and seated among fellow fans, he caught the attention of cameras as he held up the placard, reports media. This quirky incident went viral on social media.
But as for the match, the UAE chased down Bangladesh’s target of 206 with just one ball to spare, winning by two wickets and levelling the three-match series 1–1.
Given how Bangladesh’s World Cup record has been so far, it’s unclear how long this die-hard fan will be able to hold on to his vow.
