A construction worker died on Thursday as a wall collapsed during the renovation work of the canteen at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University.

The deceased is Dani Islam. He hailed from the Nayanagar area of Itna Upazila in Kishoreganj.

He was rescued in critical condition when the wall collapsed on him and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.

He used to live in a rented house in Mirpur-10.

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the police camp at DMCH, said the body was kept at the morgue of the hospital’s emergency department.

Shahbagh Police Station was informed about the incident, he said.
