Senior Research Associate | BRAC University

BRAC University (BRACU), through its Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), invites applications for the position of Senior Research Associate for the project titled “Addressing climate change and plastic waste in Bangladesh’s garment industry from a global value chain perspective (2024–2029)”, funded by the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), in cooperation with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Aalborg University, BRAC University, and Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka (IBA-DU).

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinate design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research activities for the project.
• Oversee primary data collection and prepare related tools.
• Conduct fieldwork, including interviews, surveys, and factory visits on plastic waste recycling.
• Lead data cleaning and analysis activities.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including co-creation workshops with policymakers, plastic recyclers, and other stakeholders.
• Organize dissemination events and advocacy initiatives.
• Draft research briefs and reports based on findings.
• Guide and coordinate junior researchers.
• Liaise with national and international stakeholders and relevant authorities.
• Provide institutional support for research activities.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sociology, Urban and Regional Planning (URP), Anthropology, Operations Management, Disaster Management, Climate Finance, or other relevant disciplines.
• 5+ years of relevant research experience, preferably in sustainability, waste management, or ecosystem development.
• Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, data visualization, and environmental research.
• Research publication experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with NVivo, SPSS, or STATA.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Bangla.
• Must be self-motivated, hardworking, flexible with work hours, and open to fieldwork travel.
