AIS Business and Analytics Club launches with inaugural ACCOLYMPIA

The AIS Business and Analytics Club (AISBAC) of Jahangirnagar University organised its inaugural ACCOLYMPIA, an intra-department accounting Olympiad, on 17 August 2025. The event aimed to foster intellectual curiosity and sharpen analytical skills among students of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS).
The two-round competition began on 14 August, with more than 70 students participating in the preliminary round featuring multiple-choice and short-answer questions on core accounting principles, business strategies and analytical reasoning. From this round, 35 students advanced to the final stage, held on 17 August, where they faced another round of advanced problem-solving challenges.
Following the final, an inauguration ceremony marked the formal launch of AISBAC in the presence of AIS faculty members, including Assistant Professors Shuvo Howlader and Mahade Hasan. The club’s first executive committee was announced on the occasion, with 51st batch student Ragib Hasan elected president and Refiya Abdullah Tihan, also of the 51st batch, serving as general secretary. Ragib received a token of appreciation from faculty for his leadership.
The champions of ACCOLYMPIA were also announced: Sumaiya Islam Samia (51st batch) secured first place, while Farhana Ahmed (53rd batch) and Md Yaseen (51st batch) won second and third positions, respectively.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and distribution of certificates to all finalists. Faculty members lauded AISBAC’s successful debut, while the club expressed gratitude for the strong support of both students and teachers. AISBAC plans to host further events in the future to enhance professional skills in accounting, business and analytics among JU students.
