In the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections, 20 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers, and four nominations were cancelled.

As of the last day for withdrawal, 11 from Cucsu and nine from the hall union withdrew their nomination papers for personal reasons, while four nominations were cancelled due to errors in their information, confirmed Cucsu Election Commissioner Prof AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui today (24 September).

Among the nomination withdrawals, there is one candidate each for vice president, joint general secretary, assistant sports secretary, law and human rights secretary, research and innovation secretary, assistant literature, culture and publication secretary, and health secretary. 

Two candidates withdrew for the communication and housing secretary, and two for the health secretary, making a total of 11 withdrawals.

In the hall union elections, one candidate withdrew nomination for the post of vice president from Alaol Hall, one for joint general secretary from Artist Rashid Chowdhury Hostel, one executive member from Atish Dipankar Hall, one health secretary from Bijoy 24 Hall, one social, environment and human rights secretary from Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, one vice president and one literature and culture secretary from Shahid Farhad Hossain Hall, one joint general secretary, and one science, research and IT secretary from Shahjalal Hall.

The Cucsu election will be held on 15 October as per the revised schedule.
