BRAC University has been selected as the only host institution in Bangladesh for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) for the 2026–27 session, opening a new pathway for international students pursuing postgraduate studies in the country.

Offered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the QECS provides fully funded opportunities for students from Commonwealth nations to undertake a two-year master’s programme in selected low- and middle-income countries. The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly stipends, return airfare, arrival allowance, and—where applicable—research funding. Applications will remain open until 14 January 2026.

BRAC University will host QECS scholars in four graduate programmes:

  • Master of Public Health
  • Master of Development Studies
  • Master of Education in Educational Leadership and School Improvement
  • Master of Science in Biotechnology

Applicants must meet the academic requirements set by the university.

Registrar Dave Dowland said the opportunity will allow students to explore Bangladesh and engage with its emerging problem-solving ecosystem. He noted that scholars from across the Commonwealth will gain exposure to local innovations while experiencing a diverse cultural environment.

BRAC University joined the ACU in 2021, becoming part of a network of more than 500 institutions engaged in collaborative projects, professional networks, and academic exchanges.

Its new role as Bangladesh’s sole QECS host reinforces the university’s commitment to advancing quality education, reducing global inequalities, and building international partnerships—key priorities under the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The development also strengthens Bangladesh’s visibility in the global higher-education landscape.
