IUB Photography Club hosts workshop on travel photography
The Independent Photography Club (IPC), a student organisation of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), organised a travel photography workshop titled “The Traveling Lens” on 9 December 2025.
Held in collaboration with Sony Bangladesh, the workshop aimed to enhance practical travel photography skills among university students through guidance from professional photographers.
The sessions were conducted by Rony Sharafat and Anirban Kaisar, who covered topics including travel photography fundamentals, visual storytelling, camera equipment and field techniques, with hands-on demonstrations for participants.
Prof Daniel W Lund, pro-vice chancellor of IUB; Dr Imran Firdaus, head of the Department of Media and Communication; and Refat Ara Jerin, co-coordinator of IPC, attended the workshop.
The Sony delegation included Makiyama Kazuteru, general manager of the imaging marketing division of Sony Electronics Japan; Bae Jihoon, president of Sony Singapore; Joshua Jing Xuan, country head of Sony Electronics Bangladesh; Alex Loon, head of operations of Fortune Sky Limited; Ozawa Yuki; and Negishi Masahiro. Ahsanul Kabir Pallab, representative of Sony Bangladesh, also supported the organisation of the programme.
Participants included members of photography clubs from North South University, American International University–Bangladesh, United International University, East West University and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology.
Organisers said the workshop formed part of IPC’s ongoing initiatives to promote skill development in photography and strengthen collaboration between university communities and industry professionals.
