Bangladeshi teams win awards at IBCOL, IDSOL 2025
The 6th edition of the Blockchain and AI Olympiad Bangladesh (BCOLBD) 2025 recognised the achievements of young Bangladeshi innovators who excelled at international competitions, including the International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) and the International Data Science Olympiad (IDSOL), held in Hong Kong.
The award ceremony opened with a welcome address by Prof Dr Md Kaykobad, Convener of BCOLBD and Distinguished Professor at BRAC University, who said the Olympiad has played a key role in fostering innovation and enthusiasm among young participants.
Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, ndc, MCIPS (CS), Secretary of the ICT Division, attended the programme as chief guest. He commended BCOLBD for its achievements and stated that the ICT Division would continue to support initiatives promoting emerging technologies.
Special guests included Prof Alan Edelman of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who stated he was honoured to be associated with the Olympiad since its inception; Prof Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, who highlighted the growing importance of blockchain and artificial intelligence; and Paul Frost, Commercial Counsellor at the US Embassy Dhaka, who praised the quality and organisation of the Olympiad.
The programme concluded with remarks by Habibullah N Karim, Coordinator of BCOLBD and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Technohaven Company Limited, who said the sixth edition marked a milestone in BCOLBD’s growing contribution to technology innovation in Bangladesh.
At the event, the chief guest handed over prize cheques to the winners.
BCOLBD also announced the achievements of Bangladeshi teams at the IBCOL and IDSOL 2025, held in Hong Kong from 29 to 31 October 2025. A total of 22 teams from Bangladesh, nominated through BCOLBD, competed with teams from around the world and secured multiple awards.
