JUST holds LIFETECH 2026 on life science and biotechnology
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) hosted the 1st International Conference on Life Science, Health and Biotechnology (LIFETECH 2026) on 18 January 2026, marking a significant academic milestone for the university and Bangladesh’s life science community.
Organised by the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology, the conference brought together researchers, academics, policymakers and students to exchange research findings and discuss emerging issues in life science, health and biotechnology.
Farida Akhter, adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, attended the conference as the chief guest. In her remarks, she highlighted the growing importance of scientific research in addressing national challenges related to health, food security and sustainability.
The conference was held under the patronage of Professor Dr Md Abdul Mazid, vice-chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology, who served as the chief patron. He emphasised that international academic conferences play a vital role in strengthening research culture and fostering collaboration across institutions and borders.
Special guests included Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, vice-chancellor of Islamic University; Professor Dr Md Nazmul Ahsan, vice-chancellor of Khulna Agricultural University; Professor Dr S M Abdul-Awal, vice-chancellor of Pabna University of Science and Technology; and Professor Dr Hossain Al Mamun, treasurer of JUST.
Professor Dr M Mozammel Hoq from the University of Dhaka and vice president of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology attended the event as guest of honour and shared insights on regional collaboration in biotechnology and aligning research with global scientific priorities.
The conference was convened by Professor Dr Md Sherazul Islam, dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology, while Professor Dr Md Aminur Rahman, chairman of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience, served as organising secretary.
The programme featured oral and poster presentation sessions, where researchers and students presented findings from diverse areas of life science, health and biotechnology, encouraging interdisciplinary discussion and academic exchange.
By hosting LIFETECH 2026, JUST reaffirmed its commitment to promoting research, innovation and global academic engagement, while creating a platform for collaboration that could shape future scientific research and policy.
