IUB welcomes nearly 1,000 undergraduate students for Spring 2026
Independent University, Bangladesh welcomed around 1,000 new undergraduate students at its Spring 2026 Orientation Programme on 15 January, 2026. Organised by the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, the event was held at the university auditorium and attended by parents, guardians, senior management, faculty members and administrative staff.

Independent University, Bangladesh welcomed around 1,000 new undergraduate students at its Spring 2026 Orientation Programme on 15 January, 2026. Organised by the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, the event was held at the university auditorium and attended by parents, guardians, senior management, faculty members and administrative staff.
Of the newly enrolled students, 55% are male and 45% female. While 66% of the cohort is from Dhaka, the remaining 34% represent districts from across the country.
Speakers at the inaugural session included Vice-Chancellor Professor M Tamim; Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Daniel W Lund; Registrar Asif Parvez; and Director of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations Lima Choudhury.
Also present at the ceremony were Treasurer Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider; Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr Bokhtiar Ahmed; Dean of the School of Law Professor Dr Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian; Dean of the School of Environment and Life Sciences Dr K Ayaz Rabbani; Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health Dr Kamran ul Baset; Dean of the School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences Dr Habib Bin Muzaffar; and Representative from the School of Business and Entrepreneurship Dr Samiul Parvez Ahmed.
The inaugural session concluded with the recognition of merit scholars who secured top scores in the admission test. In the second session, a video presentation highlighted student clubs, extracurricular activities, and academic and general support services.
The programme was moderated by Deputy Director of Admissions Priyanka Dey and concluded with performances by the IUB Music Club and the IUB Dance Club.
