TFP CREATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARDS HELD AT DHAKA UNIVERSITY
Nineteen students of Dhaka University received the ‘2nd TFP Creative Excellence Awards, 2025’, presented by the Department of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) on the occasion of the department’s 14th founding anniversary.

Nineteen students of Dhaka University received the ‘2nd TFP Creative Excellence Awards, 2025’, presented by the Department of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) on the occasion of the department’s 14th founding anniversary.
TFP Film Club, the official film club of the Department of Television, Film and Photography at the University of Dhaka, organized the 2nd edition of its intra-department audiovisual competition on 3rd February 2026. This initiative aims to celebrate and strengthen the creative spirit of the students of the Department, encouraging them to experiment, collaborate, and push the boundaries of visual storytelling. A total of 129 works, including films, screenplays, film posters, news reports, television programs were submitted for this year’s competition. A jury board comprising the country’s renowned filmmakers, producers, cinematographers, film critics, screenwriters and journalists nominated 41 works in 19 categories.
As part of the day-long programme, 26 nominated films were screened at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. Winners were presented with their awards following the screening.
Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Vice-Provost (Academic) of Dhaka University, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He said, “Over the 14 years since its establishment, the Department of Television, Film and Photography has shown remarkable success in bridging academia and industry. I believe this continuity in creative work will continue in the future.”
He congratulated the award-winning students and assured full support to advance the department’s educational programmes and creative initiatives.
Among the jury members, producer Arifur Rahman; screenwriter and film critic Sadia Khalid Reeti; production designer Ranjan Rabbani; sound designer Nahid Masud; journalist Mir Masruruzzaman; photographer and TFP faculty member Nasir Mahmud; and TFP faculty member Khandakar Rubyat Mursalin were present to hand over the awards. They praised the quality of the works they judged and expressed their wish to see the TFP Creative Excellence Awards held every year.
Department Chairman Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem said the programme was organised to nurture students’ creative confidence. “With adequate support, this department will be able to provide world-class education and establish Dhaka University as a centre of creative work recognised worldwide,” he added.
He also thanked the guests, jury members, faculty and students on behalf of the department.
