NSU CPC held seminar on women’s leadership to mark International Women’s Day
North South University’s Career & Placement Center (CPC) hosted a seminar titled “Her Leadership, Her Legacy: Shaping Careers, Shaping Tomorrow” to mark International Women’s Day.
The event brought together faculty members, staff and students to reflect on the evolving role of women in the global workforce and the importance of leadership grounded in impact and integrity.
The seminar featured Chief Guest Barrister Rashna Imam, a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Drawing on her experience in the legal profession, she shared insights on navigating high-pressure professional environments with resilience and a strong moral compass.
She was joined by Dr Farzana Nahid, Director of CPC; Dr Nazlee Siddiqui, Professor and Director of MBA/EMBA Programmes; and Dr Nazia Manzoor, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages. The speakers highlighted the importance of mentorship and institutional support in fostering equitable opportunities and professional growth.
The seminar also addressed pressing social challenges facing women in Bangladesh. Speakers discussed the recent rise in sexual assault incidents and emphasised that career development cannot be separated from the fundamental right to safety. Barrister Rashna Imam stressed the importance of legal awareness and public accountability, urging individuals to remain informed about their rights.
The panel called for a cultural shift that actively challenges harassment and promotes stronger reporting mechanisms and collective responsibility in both public and professional spaces.
The session concluded with a message to students that preventing gender-based violence and achieving professional success are shared responsibilities requiring collaboration across society. The CPC reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that prepare students not only for career success but also for leadership in building a safer, more just and inclusive world.
