DU TFP department hosts memorial seminar for Haidar Rizvi, Zahidur Rahim Anjan
A seminar and memorial programme was held on Monday to honour the lives and creative contributions of two distinguished filmmakers and former part-time teachers of the Department of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) at University of Dhaka — Haidar Rizvi and Zahidur Rahim Anjan.
The event, organised by the TFP department, took place at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the university’s Social Sciences Faculty building. The programme began with screenings of Prussian Officer, directed by Rizvi, and Morning, directed by Anjan.
Film critic Mahmudul Hossain presented a paper exploring the journey of modernity and aesthetics in the films of the two late filmmakers. Art critic and teacher Moinuddin Khaled and Luba Nahid Chowdhury, director general of the Bengal Foundation, also joined the discussion as speakers, highlighting the artistic vision of Rizvi and Anjan and their contributions to the Bangladeshi film industry.
During the programme, commemorative plaques were handed over to the family members of the two filmmakers. Teachers of the department, along with current and former students and members of the film community, attended the event.
