PM welcomes proposals for easing school-hour traffic in Dhaka
The directive came when Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj met the prime minister at the Secretariat this morning.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has asked the education ministry to explore alternative measures to ease traffic congestion in the capital during school hours.
The directive came when Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj met the prime minister at the Secretariat this morning (31 March), said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Ruman.
They discussed how traffic congestion during school hours in the capital can be reduced and what alternative measures can be adopted, according to Ruman.
The prime minister asked the education ministry to prepare and submit proposals in this regard, he added.
He cited an example of schools in the capital where some 150 students are enrolled and around 100 cars gather on the premises to drop them off, causing severe congestion and making it difficult for students to reach their institutions.
The prime minister instructed the ministry to address such issues and come up with viable alternatives, the PM’s additional press secretary added.
